RE: Hitching tips

I just pick a center spot on the TT, and a center spot on the tailgate, and start backing, I may have to do this a few times, but I usually hitch up in 3 times or less. Now with a spotter, the DW or DS, they have yet to figure out that I need to turn before I get to the hitch, and this usually takes me longer. But they try. I keep saying I am going to paint a mark on my tailgateinside the bed for a better reference.
I hear ya... I too find it easier to hook up without any help.

RE: Coffee pot suggestions please

I like this one from Coleman. It's not an under the counter but it works well. It takes about 20min to brew a full pot. You do need a carafe or thermos to pour the coffee into after it brews.

RE: towing 5er vs TT

I have towed a 5er for a friend in the past and YES they sure are nice going down the road. We have wanted to get one for a while but when we go camping we put all kinds of stuff in the bed of our truck.
I just got a 5er and am surprised how much stuff I can still get in the bed of the truck! What won't fit in the bed of the truck usually fits into the large storage compartment of the 5er.

RE: First 5er Camping Weekend

Humm... I don't normally pack a snow shovel for my first trip of the year.
Actually...the campground host supplied the shovel. We got tans on our faces that weekend, the weather was beautiful! Well...for Alberta that is! *smile*

RE: New Tow Vehicle

One word of advice...be carefull you don't run over the guy in front of you when you climb that big hill pulling your trailor! The power is amazing! The transmission is amazing... come to think of it, the whole truck is amazing!

RE: Inconsiderate People don't know how to park

Look at it this way, now that it has a dent you won't so worried over it. Besides that, no one was injured were they, or worse yet killed. Objects can be repaired or replaced, lives lost cannot.
If someone did that to my new truck there would be a death!

RE: 4 wheel drive at 60mph

4wd does not help much over 35 mph. If you can't go faster in 2wd you should not be going that fast.
4 wheeldrive helps alot at any speeds! If it is safe for a 2 wheel dr to go 45mph then it is safe for a 4x4 to go faster (depending on the amount of traffic on the road) The only thing you must realise you can not stop any quicker than the 2wd. With 4wd and a little bit of slippage on the corner you get on the throttle not the brakes! The 4x4's you see in the ditches are usually suv's and the person driving it doesn't have a clue how to drive!

RE: Issues in buying a 5er in USA and taking it to Canada

I'm in the process now of bringing a truck into Canada that I bought in Indiana. Here is the website that explains how to import a vehicle into Canada. If they classify an RV as a vehicle than this site should be of help...

RE: Buy at Show or wait?

I bought at a show too. I bought with the option of getting out of the deal (with my deposit) if I decided I wanted to. I asked for a 7 day rescission period and they gave it to me. In the following days I tried to find better deals for the same trailor and could not! In my case buying at the show was a good deal.

RE: Parts Prices in Canada

I just bought my first rv (2008 Cougar 278rks) and a new fully loaded chevy D/A 2500 to pull it. I bought the truck on ebay for a saving of about $30,000 compared to canadian prices!!! hmmm...that's like buying the truck here and getting a free 5'er! Get with it Canada!

RE: Calgary Stampede Campgrounds

Yes, Pine Creek RV Park has definitely been permanently closed.
Has it? Everything is still there, including all the units in the storage yard. I admit, though, that I haven't actually gone up to see if there's a sign at the gate.
Yes, it really, really, really is permanently closed. The storage units are only there till spring. If you still don't believe me, try calling their phone (403) 256-3002 and listen to the voice message that they are permanently closed.
I just re-confirmed...the camoground is closed permanantly!
Another campground you might want to consider is this one...
